When one thinks of lingerie, it is almost always associated with risque and visually appealing undergarments for women. But in reality, lingerie can be for men or women, and isn’t always supposed to be promiscuous or revealing. In many cases lingerie is for comfort or everyday use in society- so what’s the difference between the types of lingerie in specifics?
One of the most popular types of lingerie that were existent in the past were corsets and girdles. These types of lingerie allowed the wearer to shape the body through constricting the body to mold it into a better shape. This was popular when dieting and dieting pills weren’t always available or well researched. Likewise, these types of lingerie were most popular in older times.
Other types of lingerie are present in everyday life for some women. Stockings or pantyhose are used in the corporate world, where it is common for women to where such things to give a professional look. Although this isn’t always the case, it helps gives women a tan look that helps cover up white legs, which helps convey a sense of professionalism.
Still other types of lingerie, such as spanky-pants or bloomers, are used by cheerleaders for fitting underneath their cheerleading uniforms. This is primarily used so as to keep a cheerleader’s body covered even while performing stunts such as handstands or cartwheels. In this case the color of the bloomers is almost always black, so as to not draw attention to the undergarment.
Nightgowns, nightshirts, and other types of sleepwear are also included under the lingerie category. These types of lingerie don’t necessarily have to be promiscuous in composition, despite popular belief. On the contrary, these types of garments are usually made to cater to a woman’s comfort and designed for overnight use.
Of course, there are also other types of lingerie that are indeed considered promiscuous. These types of lingerie can range from different types of tight fitting garments to even the aforementioned types of lingerie. Risque lingerie commonly uses frilly lace, silk, and other fine types of clothing to give elegant designs. Such types of lingerie focus primarily on visual attraction, not necessarily comfort or style.
As a last note, it’s also important to know that lingerie isn’t just a female’s world. Males are also open to the thought of wearing lingerie, although it is less accepted among most societies. Males do not always shop for lingerie, per se, but certain types of male underwear and garments are still considered lingerie in definition. Because of the less demand, lingerie companies usually have more options for women than they do men.
In conclusion, lingerie is a vast market that would take one much time to explore thoroughly. Because there are indeed so many options to those who shop for lingerie, it is common to buy multiple pairs of lingerie for different occasions. Others simply like wearing lingerie in a constant basis so as to enjoy the wealthy lifestyle and comfort. Whatever the case, lingerie is a great world to explore, and it can be done so through online stores and local lingerie shops.
