Some of the health benefits associated with being a curvier figure are largely unknown as are the many associated health risks of being ultra-thin
The Health Risks of Size Zero
Reducing body weight to a body mass index below 18.5 could cause infertility, and kidney or liver failure. Insomnia and loss of concentration are further associated risks of being ultra-thin. For many women of a fuller or more plus size figure, aspiring to the bare bones of the fashion magazines is hardly an aspiration to good health. There is a great deal of nutritional deprivation that is associated with the extremes of skinniness, such as are advocated by the fashion industry. This can result in chemical imbalances in the brain that could lead to severe mood swings, and the loss of a proper sense of proportion.
